Charon is a multipurpose proxy program. It searches google for publically posted proxy lists, and incorporates an environmental checker to verify the anonymity / functionality of these. Filtering support is added by means of user-customisable lists to eliminate proxies such as those run by educational / military / government authorities.
Charon is one of the first programs on the market to incorporate both a search engine crawler and an integrated (internal) proxy judge. This eliminates the requirement for the unreliable external judges that traditionally hampered the proxy testing process.
